How True Blue Finds Pool Leaks

Our Pool Leak Detection Process

Evidence-based. Strategic. No guesswork.

If you think your pool is leaking, the first step isn’t to grab equipment. We start by listening. In many cases, we can help troubleshoot the issue over the phone — and sometimes save you from needing a full leak detection at all.

Our Philosophy

Our Goal Isn’t to Sell You a Service. It’s to Solve the Problem.

Pool leaks can be confusing. A good diagnosis should make the situation clearer, not leave you with more questions.

We start with the simplest explanation first.

Sometimes the problem is a leaking backwash line, a bad valve, or something we can help identify before an appointment is even necessary. If the signs point to a true structural or plumbing leak, then we schedule a full leak detection.

Step by Step

What Happens During a Pool Leak Detection?

Each stage is designed to eliminate possibilities and move closer to a confirmed source.

01

The Initial Call — Understanding What’s Really Happening

When you call us, we’ll ask a few simple but important questions. These answers tell us a lot before a technician ever arrives.

  • How much water are you losing per day?
  • Does it leak only when the pump is running?
  • Does it leak when the system is off?
  • Does the water stop dropping at a certain level?
  • Have you noticed water around your equipment pad?

Sometimes we ask customers to do a bucket test to confirm their leak. If the signs point to a true structural or plumbing leak, we schedule a full leak detection.

02

On-Site Evaluation — Starting With the Basics

When we arrive, we don’t jump to conclusions. We begin at the equipment pad, checking for obvious mechanical or plumbing failures. From there, we move strategically through the pool.

Our primary inspection includes skimmers, return jets, the pool light, and visible structural anomalies. We use dye testing to identify movement that indicates a leak, allowing us to confirm issues without unnecessary disruption.

03

Pressure Testing the Plumbing Lines

Next, we pressure test all plumbing lines that can be tested. This tells us whether the issue is underground plumbing or structural and helps eliminate variables.

Every result is measurable and documented. If a line fails, we know it. If it holds, we move on.

04

Structural Analysis — When Conditions Allow

If water clarity and conditions are suitable, we perform a deeper structural analysis. This often includes diving the pool and conducting a detailed dye inspection of the interior structure.

We examine areas most people would never think to look at — methodically and strategically — combining advanced equipment with common-sense diagnostics developed from years of real-world experience.

Once We Finish, You See What We See

We don’t just tell you we found it. We show you.

  • Every conclusion is evidence-based.
  • Pressure-test results help confirm or eliminate plumbing lines.
  • Dye testing helps verify structural leak locations.
  • We explain the findings before recommending a repair.

When you can see the problem clearly, decisions become easier. We want you to feel confident in the findings, not uncertain or pressured.
